Massive power outages are occurring in annexed Crimea. Local Russian authorities are citing "technological problems." However, Crimean Telegram channels are reporting drone attacks , one of which caused a fire at a major electrical substation in Dzhankoy. Krym.Realii investigated the situation.
Recently, Crimean public groups reported drone attacks and the sounds of air defense systems in various regions of Crimea. Drones attacked targets in Feodosia, Kerch, Dzhankoy, and near Simferopol. Several regions of Crimea were left without power, and the consequences were felt.
Telegram channel "Crimean Wind" reported damage to an electrical substation in Dzhankoy .
"An electrical substation was damaged in Dzhankoy. First, fragments from a drone fell on the substation, and some time later, there was a direct hit, after which power went out in part of the city and the Dzhankoy district," the public page reported, citing its subscribers.
Subsequently, the substation in Dzhankoy "burned very heavily," and the city "was plunged into darkness," according to Krymsky Veter.
The local public group "Typical Dzhankoy" reported that a UAV was spotted over Dzhankoy, flying toward an electrical substation, after which the city lost power. this public thanked the power company for restoring electricity to their homes.
Following reports of a fire at the Dzhankoy substation, Krymenergo announced the introduction of power outage schedules in Dzhankoy and several regions of the Crimean peninsula – Simferopol, Yevpatoria, and the Saksky, Simferopol, and Dzhankoy districts.
