Ukraine has launched one of its largest drone assaults of the war, striking deep into occupied Crimea and multiple Russian regions on October 6. Explosions and fires were reported at the Saki Airfield, the Feodosia Sea Oil Terminal, and the Sverdlov explosives plant in Dzerzhinsk—over 500 miles from Ukraine. The attack caused power outages for tens of thousands and major damage to key fuel and military sites.
According to local channels, fires from Feodosia’s oil depot were visible nearly 20 miles away, while over 250 drones were reportedly intercepted across Russian airspace. Kyiv’s precision strikes mark one of the most significant retaliatory operations of 2025, following Russia’s bombardment of Lviv that killed at least four civilians. Damage assessments are ongoing, but evidence points to a crippling blow to Russian logistics and production capacity.
