Ukrainian troops have attacked two Russian energy facilities supplying the Russian army in Volgograd region as well as drone production sites in Belgorod region, local media reported on Wednesday, citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Fire erupted at the Kuzmichi-1 oil pumping station, part of the crude oil transport system to Russia’s southern regions. Ukrainian forces also targeted the Zenzevatka oil pumping station, which feeds the Kuibyshev–Tikhoretsk main pipeline.
In a separate attack overnight, Ukrainian units targeted a drone production facility in the village of Valuyki, Belgorod region, aiming to disrupt drone manufacturing and reduce Russia’s combat capabilities. Initial reports indicate the plant was hit and a fire broke out.
The scale of the damage is still being assessed.
The General Staff also confirmed the destruction of the ELOU-AVT-6 primary oil processing unit at the Gazprom Neftekhim-Salavat refinery in Bashkortostan, where a fire is still burning. The General Staff also confirmed the Ukrainian attack on Astrakhan gas processing plant in Astrakhan region with long-range Ukrainian weapons on September 22. The attack damaged the production facilities and partially shut down operations.
The facility is one of the world’s largest gas chemical complexes and Russia’s leading producer of sulfur for explosives, responsible for up to 66% of national output. The plant processes up to 3.2 million tonnes of oil products annually. Ukrainian in recent months, has scaled up aerial strikes on strategic facilities deep in Russia to undermine Moscow’s war efforts.
