The Ukrainian Air Force demonstrated the STASH air defense system for the first time while repelling a massive Russian attack involving Shahed-type strike drones on western regions of Ukraine.
A video of the system in action was released by the press service of Air Command West.
Judging by the released video, the new air defense system is likely a version of the already known short-range Tempest air defense system, in which the buggy base has been replaced with a trailer.
Tempest Air Defense System
The Tempest was first unveiled by the American company V2X in October 2025. The combat vehicle is built on a chassis similar to the commercial Can-Am Maverick X3 buggy.

As stated, this air defense system is designed for operations where mobility and low observability play a decisive role. It is intended to combat enemy drones, helicopters, and aircraft at low altitudes under any weather conditions. However, the exact technical specifications of the system have not been disclosed.
Two AGM-114 Hellfire missiles are used for interception, likely the AGM-114L Hellfire Longbow variant with a radar homing seeker. A radar station is mounted on the buggy’s frame, providing target search and, likely, target designation for the missiles.
In January 2026, it became publicly known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had received the Tempest air defense system. Footage of the system in action during the repulsion of a nighttime air attack was published by Air Command Center in a New Year’s video. The transfer of the system to Ukraine was not publicly announced.
