A Ukrainian Air Force MiG-29 fighter jet has destroyed a Russian base in Russia’s border Kursk region. The strike was carried out using French AASM HAMMER guided bombs. Video footage shared in social media caputes the attack, that was followed by massive explosion. The MiG-29 fighter jet carried out a precise strike on a concentration of Russian troops in the settlement of Tetkino in Glushovsky District. Footage of the attack was released by military pilots of the Ukrainian Air Force. The targeted facility was located on the grounds of a former sugar factory, which Russian forces had been using as a base. According to Ukraine’s General Staff, over the past 24 hours the Air Force, missile troops, and artillery of the Defense Forces also struck four drone control points, five troop concentration areas, and one important enemy facility. Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jets have increasingly become a central part of Ukraine’s precision strike campaigns against Russian military targets, both along the frontlines and deeper behind enemy lines. Ukrainian army has scaled up missile and drone attacks on strategic Russian facilities in occupied parts of Ukraine and deep in Russia. Russia’s Kursk region has been one of focal points of hostilities after Ukraine launched large-scale cross-border incursion in the region in August 2024 and captured around 1,000 kilometres of territory. As of 2026, Russia controls most of the region.
