A Ukrainian soldier, standing silently by Odesa’s Black Sea coast, appears in a video that has resonated across social platforms.
Leaning on a cane, he does not move or respond as the water washes over his feet.
“The waves touched his legs, the splashes wrapped around his body. He didn’t move or try to step away. He just looked at the sea, and no one disturbed that moment. His face was covered with a balaclava against the wind. Young, beautiful eyes full of pain. A moment hard to convey in words,” his wife Natalia wrote.
