The United Kingdom conducted an operation to detect and track Russian submarines in the North Atlantic for a month.
This was reported by UK Defense Minister John Healey, according to Sky News.
The military recorded the activity of an Akula-class submarine and two specialized vessels in areas of critical underwater infrastructure.
Royal Navy ships and Royal Air Force P-8A patrol aircraft, in conjunction with allies, provided round-the-clock surveillance of the Russian group.
In addition to the attack submarine, British forces identified vessels belonging to Russia’s Main Directorate for Deep-Sea Research (GUGY). The minister also mentioned the detection of the Russian spy ship Yantar, which was spotted in the region as far back as last November.

John Healey emphasized that these vessels are intended for surveying underwater infrastructure in peacetime. Russia uses them to prepare sabotage operations aimed at destroying strategic communication and power supply lines.
Subsequently, the submarine left the observation zone and retreated to its permanent deployment point. Meanwhile, two specialized submarines of the UK Royal Navy remain in British waters, where they continue to be monitored.
