Recently manufactured US components are being installed in Russian Shahed-type strike drones.
Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the Commissioner for Sanctions Policy of the President of Ukraine, stated this during a visit to the United States, as reported by Militarnyi.
At meetings in Washington, Vlasiuk presented evidence showing that the time it takes for Western components to reach Russia has been reduced to a critical minimum.
“In Shahed drones used by Russia to attack Ukraine in late March 2026, US-made components manufactured in late 2025 were identified,” he said.
This means the parts are reaching the assembly line just a few months after leaving the factory.

Although some of these parts are counterfeit, most are genuine products from American, Chinese, Japanese, and German companies.
“The US government treats this issue as a priority, but the situation remains a serious challenge for the entire export control system,” Vlasiuk noted.
The flow of Western microelectronics to Russia and Iran is a direct challenge to global stability.
The situation in the Strait of Hormuz clearly demonstrated the level of threat: Iranian drones costing only $30,000 were able to halt construction of a strategic liquefied natural gas plant in Qatar, putting at risk a facility that supplies about 20% of the global market.
“This realization has finally become shared between us and our partners: components in the hands of terrorist regimes are weapons of mass economic destruction,” Vlasiuk emphasized.

Recently, nearly two dozen components from the United States were also discovered in the Russian Knyaz Veshchy Oleg UAV.
“The Russian Federation continues to develop its own weapons systems while maintaining access to foreign technologies through supply networks and intermediaries,” the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported.
