A bipartisan U.S. congressional delegation arrived in Copenhagen Friday in an attempt to show unity between Washington and Denmark as U.S. President Donald Trump continues to call for the United States to take over Greenland.
According to Associated Press the US politicians, both senators and members of the House of Representatives, are expected to meet with their Danish and Greenland counterparts at the Danish parliament.
Trump has turned the Arctic island of Greenland into a geopolitical hotspot with his demands to own it and suggestions that the U.S. could take it by force.
The island is a semiautonomous region of Denmark, and Denmark’s foreign minister said Wednesday after a meeting at the White House that a “fundamental disagreement” remains with Trump over the island.
