Ukrainian Armed Forces’ drone units launched overnight attacks on oil terminal and a drone depot in Russian-occupied Crimea Peminsula on November 13. The attacks targeted the marine oil terminal in Crimea’s Feodosia city, which serves as a key supply hub for delivering fuel and lubricants to Russian forces by sea to the Crimean Peninsula and occupied areas of southern Ukraine. Video footage released in social media captures the moment of the strike on the oil terminal. Social media reports indicated that powerful explosions were heard in Feodosia overnight, and by morning, Russian authorities had closed the railway crossing on Fedko Street near the oil depot. The facility in Feodosia, with storage tanks capable of holding up to 250,000 cubic meters of fuel, plays a key role in supplying Russia’s southern military operations. Thursday’s attack was the third such strike on Feodosia in the past few days. Another attack targeted a storage and maintenance base for Orion strike-reconnaissance drones at the Kirovske airfield in Crimea. Ukraine has scaled up long-range strikes on Russia’s energy and military facilities in Russian-held Ukrainain territories as well as deep in Russia. The attacks on energy production facilities are aimed at disrupting funding for Russia’s war machine. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Ukrainian attacks have reduced as much as 27% of Russia’s fuel production, further cutting funding for Kremlin’s war of invasion that was launched in February 2022. The relentless Ukrainian strikes have triggered fuel shortages, fuel price hikes across Russia. Russian-annexed Crimea Peninsula has been most affected by fuel crisis.
