The new episode of Press Talks examines information as a weapon in today’s global conflicts and the growing difficulty of accessing verified, independent reporting in times of crisis.
From information blackouts and digital repression in Iran to Greenland and the broader mechanisms used by states and non-state actors to control narratives, our guests explore how censorship, propaganda, and disinformation shape public perception and restrict the flow of reliable news.
“We are also normalizing the fact that people in power can openly talk obvious falsehoods – and they are respected and covered by the media as if they are true,” says Muganwa Gonza, reflecting on the erosion of factual standards in public discourse.
A central theme of the episode is information warfare: how news, images, and even silence itself are used strategically, and how audiences can distinguish between manipulated narratives and credible reporting.
