According to the Woodland Fire Department, fire crews responded to a vegetation fire behind a residence on the 38000 block of Aspen Street. The fire began just after 8:15 p.m. and was sparked by a tractor mowing dry grass.
WFD stated that multiple neighbors reported flames and smoke that were quickly spreading through backyards, trees, and fences. At one point, the fire jumped to a neighboring property, and the resident who attempted to extinguish it sustained minor burns.
AMR responded to the scene and provided on-scene care, WFD said.
Fire investigators were able to confirm that the cause of the fire did come from mowing dry grass, WFD stated.
“Thanks to a rapid and coordinated response from Woodland Fire, the fire was contained before reaching any structures,” said WFD. “Crews remained on scene for mop-up and investigation.”
