Aurora parents make plea to missing teen to come home as investigation continues

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children posted a statement from the parents of Erica Long on Tuesday.

The 14-year-old left her Aurora home near East Dry Creek and South Gartrell roads on Sunday, June 15, and has not been seen since.

The statement says:

“Erica, we love you! We are so worried about you, and we miss you—your card tricks, your artwork and your insight, your pats on dad’s hat and even your pats on my head. We also see you and know you’re in pain. Qbert. We call Qbert. Please come home. We hope you’re safe. We love you, forever and always, Love Mom and Dad”

The family also helped to raise a $5,000 reward for information that leads to Erica’s safe return.

Plus, the FBI and Homeland Security have joined Aurora police in the search.

Aurora Police Department Agent Matthew Longshore says the department is running down tips, but they are asking for more information from the community.

“Any tip, as small as it might be, could be what we need,” Longshore said.

“We are very concerned. It’s been over a week, she’s 14,” he added.

Erica, who also goes by the name “Ember,” has brown hair and a distinctive henna tattoo on her left arm.

Aurora neighbors say they are worried.

“It’s all over the Nextdoor app. Everybody is looking for her,” said Lepreil Lachapelle. “I hope that she’s found OK and that her parents are OK.”

If you have any information about Erica, you are asked to call 303-627-3100.
