CHICAGO — Multiple people were shot in a possible drive-by late Wednesday night in River North.
The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. near the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue, where a number of clubs and businesses are located. Witnesses say they heard rapid fire and a car racing out of the area.
Chicago police have confirmed multiple people were shot but have not said exactly how many were shot or possibly killed.
However, police sources tell WGN News a car pulled up and at least one shooter, maybe more, got out and opened fire into a crowd of people near the intersection of Chicago and Franklin. WGN has also learned the victims of the shooting have been rushed to several different area hospitals, at least some in critical condition.
This is a developing story.
