(FOX40.COM) — One person is dead following an assault late Monday night, the Sacramento Police Department said.
According to police, officers responded to a report of an assault around 11 p.m. near the intersection of 26th Avenue and Franklin Boulevard.
Officers found a man with life-threatening injuries.
Responding fire department personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene.
Police said homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.
