Caught on video this week, police chased and arrested five members of a known burglary crew that targeted UPS trucks in San Bernardino County.
The Chino Police Department posted footage of the spread-out, multi-arrest operation on Friday, showing police pull up in unmarked cars to ambush and chase down five suspects just as they were starting to commit a burglary.
“Detectives had been investigating a series of organized thefts and were able to identify some of the suspects and their vehicles,” detailed the post. “Detectives conducted mobile surveillance and watched as the suspects covered the vehicle’s license plates and followed a delivery truck, waiting for the right time to commit the burglary.”
It was just as the group broke into the parked UPS truck that officers were seen driving in from multiple directions of the parking lot, converging on the truck. Multiple suspects are then seen trying to run away from the officers, only to be met by more law enforcement on the other side of the parking lot.
“All five suspects who reside in Los Angeles were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and booked at West Valley Detention Center,” said the Chino Police Department. “This successful operation was made possible through the teamwork and coordination of the Criminal Investigations Bureau, UAS Team, Real Time Crime Center, and Quality of Life Team.”
None of the suspects were immediately identified.
