CLEARFIELD, UTAH (ABC4) — Clearfield City is asking residents to refrain from using outdoor water sources through tonight, citing electrical issues.
The combination of high water usage and ongoing heat has caused electrical issues at city water pumps, Clearfield City officials report. The electrical issues put the city at risk of draining its water reserves.
City officials are asking residents to put a pause on their outdoor watering, as the usage adds “significant demand on the system”. While indoor water use remains unthreatened and acceptable, outdoor water use, such as sprinklers, may also cause shortages and pressure loss.
Currently, city officials are working to repair the pump systems and are calling in a specialized electrician. It is possible that residents may be asked to refrain from using outdoor water for longer than tonight.
