E-bike rider, 15,  fatally struck while fleeing police: Cops

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 15-year-old was fatally struck by a car while fleeing police on Long Island, according to police. 

The incident started in Queens, where police responded to a knifepoint robbery around 8 p.m. on Hillside Avenue, according to the NYPD. An unidentified person fled the scene on an e-bike, then was struck by a car in New Hyde Park on Long Island. 

Nassau County Police say the e-bike rider was a 15-year-old who was pronounced dead on the scene. 

The driver of the car, 28-year-old Ruyan Ali, was arrested at the scene of the crash, Nassau County Police said. Ali is accused of driving without a license, police said.
