‘Extreme heat’ possible this week

DANGEROUS HEAT

We have officially started our warming trend that will result in very warm summer temps across central North Carolina. Sunday’s high temperatures ranged from the low to mid 90s across the region, but many locations will reach 100° tomorrow.

Tuesday may be even warmer with high temperatures ranging up to 102° by the afternoon. When you factor in the humidity, we may feel more like 102°-110° at times.

There will be very little overnight relief, which will only exacerbate the heat threat. Air conditioners and pools will certainly be working in overdrive next week.

There could be a little bit of relief by next Thursday and Friday, but there’s not a temperature cooler than the mid-90s on the forecast through next weekend.
