The scorching heat is expected to stick around through the middle of the week with highs around 100 degrees and heat index values 105 to 110 during the middle of the day. You’ll want to take this heat seriously and make sure you’re staying cool and hydrated.
Today, there’s an Extreme Heat Warning for DC, northern VA, the I-95 corridor, southern MD and the I-81 corridor when heat index values could reach up to 110. Heat Advisories are in effect for the Culpeper area and for parts of western MD and the eastern panhandle where heat index values could reach up to 105.
Tomorrow will just as hot, if not slightly hotter, so an Extreme Heat Watch has been issued for most to the region, as heat index values are expected to climb to near 110 again Tuesday afternoon.
Wednesday will also feature highs into the upper 90s, with feels-like temperatures up to 105. We’ll see a chance for some isolated thunderstorms into the afternoon, so you’ll want to stay weather aware for those.
Thursday and Friday also bring thunderstorm chances. Thursday will be hot with highs in the mid-90s, while Friday will be close to 90.
The weekend also brings a few thunderstorms, but we’re not looking at a washout. Highs will be in the lower 90s.
