HEAT ADVISORY: Wave of dangerous heat arrives today

(WJW) — A Heat Advisory will be in effect for Northeast Ohio from Sunday afternoon through Tuesday. Dangerous heat will develop Sunday afternoon and continue through at least Tuesday. Heat indices could be as high as 104 degrees during the hottest time of day – between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. – on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Dangerous heat could continue into Wednesday too. Make sure to take it easy outside and stay hydrated.

Temperatures on Sunday will top 90 degrees for the first time this year. The high humidity levels will make it feel even hotter outside. Heat index values could top 100 degrees between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Anyone who is going to try and beat the heat at the pool or on the beach will want to wear sunscreen on Sunday. The UV-Index will be very high on Sunday.

The average date of the first 90 degree day in Cleveland is June 21st.

An upper-level ridge will keep the heat dome over Northeast Ohio for the start of the workweek. High temperatures will be near or just above 90 degrees through Tuesday, with heat index values near 100 degrees during the hottest time of day.

The upper-level ridge will start to drift south of the area by middle of the workweek. This means less heat and a chance of rain showers and storms. Here’s the latest 8-Day Forecast:
