WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — Detectives in Wake County are looking into the discovery of a dead person at Falls Lake Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the death investigation.
On Saturday, around 3:30 p.m., deputies responded to a report of what appeared to be human remains in the woods in the 14000 block of Creedmoor Road/U.S. 50.
The location is the Highway 50 Boat Launch State Recreation Area at Falls Lake.
“At this time, the positive identification of the deceased is still pending,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
“This is an ongoing investigation, and there is no additional information at this time,” officials said.
