TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A few spotty showers are possible Monday morning along the coast with rain chances increasing to a 40% this afternoon. Spotty to scattered storms will develop and drift inland through the day.
Rain chances will increase each day this week with the highest chances Thursday through Saturday.
A cold front will move in from the north and stall out over the peninsula. This stalled front will bring quite a bit of moisture but also the chance for an area of low pressure to develop along it by the end of the week. The National Hurricane Center is highlighting this area to develop weak tropical characteristics.
As of Monday morning, the main hazards will be flooding in coastal counties with 4 to 7 inches of rain possible to accumulate by Saturday. Rounds of rain will be possible throughout the holiday weekend as the moisture lingers.
With the extra clouds and rain around, temperatures will be held in the upper 80s but it will be quite muggy each day.
