HOWLAND, Ohio (WJW) — The FOX 8 I-Team has confirmed with police dispatch that six people were on the plane that crashed Sunday morning in Trumbull County.
The I-Team also obtained 911 calls shedding new light on the crash. One caller said he heard a “huge crash.”
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a twin-engine plane went down in Howland Township near King Graves Road.
“I was just sitting outside having coffee, and I heard a plane that sounded odd,” one man told a Trumbull County 911 dispatcher. “Now I am seeing a huge amount of smoke.”
Authorities have not yet revealed information on injuries, but the Trumbull County Coroner was called out.
The crash happened near the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.
“There was a big bang. I don’t know what it was,” another 911 caller said.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed they are on the scene of a plane crash between Spring Run Road and King Graves Road NE in Howland Township.
The patrol added that a twin-engine plane crashed at approximately 7 a.m. on Sunday. NTSB and the FAA were also notified.
