Man accused of pepper-spraying 11-month-old baby, mom on NYC subway: NYPD

LONG ISLAND CITY, Queens (PIX11) – A man is accused of pepper-spraying an 11-month-old baby and her mother on a subway train in Queens on June 20, according to the NYPD.

Police said Edward Vargas, 34, was charged with assault. A 25-year-old woman and her daughter were riding a southbound M train near the Court Square-23rd Street subway station when they were approached, according to authorities.

Police said Vargas got into an argument with the mother before he allegedly pepper-sprayed her and her baby in the face.

Vargas is accused of fleeing the train, according to authorities. Police said both victims suffered pain and redness to their eyes and faces.
