PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — A police shooting in Fairhill killed a man Friday evening after he allegedly shot at officers.
According to police, around 6 p.m. Friday, the man reportedly began shooting at officers on the 2900 block of Lawrence Street while police were responding to a domestic incident. When officers approached the door to the home, a 40-year-old man inside grabbed a gun and began firing at police. The man left the home and kept shooting, and police returned fire.
The man allegedly attempted to steal a police car, all while he was still shooting at police, with officers returning fire, and continuing after the man got out of the car and was on the ground.
Police transported him to Temple Hospital, where he died.
In a news briefing, police said that a total of four officers discharged their weapons. No officers were hurt.
The investigation is ongoing.
