OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – An officer involved shooting happened at an apartment complex after a man set his apartment on fire Thursday evening.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to call regarding a welfare check on Gail Court in Seneca. When deputies arrived on scene, they encounter a burning apartment that was set on fire by the resident, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said.
When the suspect exited his building, gunfire was exchanged between him and deputies, SLED said. The suspect ran to a nearby home to hide, but was shot by the homeowner.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the hospital. No deputies were injured, SLED said.
SLED said they are investigating the case and no other information is available at this time.
