KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thousands are without power as storms hit across the Kansas City area late Thursday afternoon.
There are reports of tree limbs down at Ward Parkway Shopping Center as well as trees down near the Legends in Kansas City, Kansas and trees down in Leavenworth and Platte counties.
There have also been multiple reports of power lines down in Jackson County and Johnson County, Kansas.
Just before 10 p.m., Evergy is reporting 3,112 customers without power in Jackson County and 2,450 without power in Johnson County, Kansas. Independence Power and Light is reporting 198 customers without power.
The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) is reporting at least 2,230 customers without power in Wyandotte County.
