Multiple shootings claim 4 lives in Chicago late Friday night into Saturday morning

CHICAGO (WGN) – Four people were killed in separate shootings across Chicago late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

Chicago police said the first shooting happened just before 11 p.m. Friday in the 1200 block of East 83rd Street in Marynook.

Officers were sent to Jackson Park Hospital for a call indicating two people had showed up to the hospital with gunshot wounds. An unknown male suspect reportedly walked up to the victims, pulled out a gun and fired shots at them.

A 16-year-old girl was shot in the throat and pronounced dead at Jackson Park Hospital, while a 35-year-old man was shot in the right thigh and is listed in good condition.

No arrests have been made and Area Two Detectives are investigating.

The second shooting happened at around 11:55 p.m. Friday in the 6400 block of South Winchester Avenue in Englewood.

Chicago police arrived at the scene and found a 36-year-old man who had been shot in the head. The victim was taken to University of Chicago Hospital where he died.

No arrests have been made and Area One Detectives are investigating.

The third shooting happened just before 5 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of North Lavergne Avenue in Austin.

A 30-year-old man was found unresponsive inside a home with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.

No arrests have been made and Area Four Detectives are investigating.

The fourth shooting happened just after 9:45 a.m. in the 800 block of North Cambridge Avenue in Cabrini-Green.

A 46-year-old man was inside a vehicle when an unknown suspect(s) opened fire. The victim was shot multiple times in the back and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Authorities said the suspect(s) drove off in a dark colored vehicle and one person of interest is in custody.

Area Three Detectives are investigating.

The four homicides are part of a violent holiday weekend across Chicago.

Police said at around 11:15 p.m. Friday, seven people were injured in a shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Five of the victims are listed in serious condition, while two are listed in critical condition.

Then at around 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Chicago police said four people with gunshot wounds walked into Mt. Sinai Hospital. While it is unclear where the shooting originally happened, three people were critically injured and another is listed in fair condition.

Earlier in the week, four people were killed and 14 wounded in a mass drive-by shooting in River North.
