One dead after falling more than 70ft from hiking trail in Polk Co.

POLK COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – Officials with the Polk County Government reported that one person is dead after falling more than 70 feet from a hiking trail at the Big Bradley Falls.

Authorities were called out to Big Bradley Falls Trailhead at Holbert Cove Road in Saluda regarding a fall. The Polk County Government said that crews from Saluda Fire and Rescue, Mill Spring Fire Department, Polk County Emergency Management and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities said they found a woman who had fallen an estimated 75-100 feet from the trail. The woman, said to be in her mid-to-late twenties, reportedly died at the scene.

The identity of the woman has not yet been released.
