SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A pedestrian was killed late Thursday afternoon after a collision in Spartanburg County.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:20 p.m., in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 26 at mile marker 26.
The pedestrian was standing on the shoulder of I-26 eastbound, when a 2005 Ford SUV that was traveling east went off the right side of the road, hitting the pedestrian.
Highway patrol said the pedestrian died at the scene of the collision.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s office identified the woman who was killed as 41-year-old Mary Lynn Carter of Clinton. She was pronounced dead at around 6:20 p.m.
A forensic exam is scheduled for Friday.
