SHREWSBURY, Mo. – Police responded to an apparent accidental shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Walmart store in Shrewsbury, Missouri on Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators say, based on preliminary findings, it appears the victim suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound due to an accidental discharge while inside a vehicle. It happened just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The Shrewsbury Police Department reports that the victim was sent to a local hospital for treatment. Police did not disclose the extent of the victim’s injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Crime scene tape has been placed around a perimeter near the front entrance for several hours as officers have investigated the scene. People are asked to be patient around the parking lot as police work to clear the scene.
Police say, based on findings, there are no outstanding suspects and there is no threat to the Shrewsbury community or Walmart shoppers.
