ST. LOUIS – A suspect is dead after being shot by police early Sunday morning.
Police say it started just after 2 a.m. when they responded to a shooting on Manchester off Sarah Street near the Grove. They found a man shot.
That man was taken to a hospital.
Shortly after, officers put out a description of a suspect on a moped. A secondary officer spotted the suspect near Manchester and Sarah and tried to pull him over but the suspect took off.
The chase ended in a vacant lot on Clayton and Vandeventer. Police say the man got off the moped, refused orders, and allegedly reached into a bag. That’s when two detectives fired, killing him.
No officers were hurt.
The Force Investigation Unit is handling the case.
