PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A suspect search has ended in arrest following a large police presence in Northeast Portland on Wednesday, authorities said.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers were searching for a man who ran from them and into the Parkrose Neighborhood in the 4800 block of Northeast 100th Avenue.
Officers found the suspect after a search that lasted about two hours. Residents who had been told to stay indoors and lock their doors were notified that the scene was now clear and the shelter-in-place order was lifted.
In addition, another wanted person was arrested when he happened to be in the same search perimeter as the other suspect and surrendered to police from someone’s backyard, Sergeant Kevin Allen, a spokesperson with PPB, told KOIN 6 News.
The search perimeter had been “pretty large,” necessitating the large number of officers, Allen said. Officers searched with the aid of K9s and drones and used a PA to call out for the suspect before he was found.
Further details were not made immediately available. KOIN 6 News crews are on the scene and are working to find out more information.
This is a developing story.
