Theatre Three’s new season blends provocation, parody, and Poirot in bold lineup

DALLAS (KDAF) — Uptown’s Theatre Three is shaking up the stage with a diverse 2025-26 season lineup that spans courtroom clashes, goblin fantasies, Greek tragedy-inspired basketball satire and a classic Agatha Christie whodunit.

Theatre Three Artistic Director Jeffrey Schmidt said, “If I had to choose one word to describe next season, I don’t think I could do it. And that’s the beauty of T3!”

Here’s what’s coming to the stages at T3:

  • The Niceties (Sept. 18–Oct. 12, 2025): A thought-provoking showdown between a young Black student and her white professor unpacks power, race, and academia. Directed by Sasha Maya Ada.
  • The Trade: A Tragedy in Four Quarters (Oct. 9–Nov. 2, 2025): This world premiere from Dallas playwright Matt Lyle follows the tragicomic unraveling of a Mavericks-esque basketball team with Greek chorus flair.
  • Goblin Market (Nov. 13–Dec. 7, 2025): Sisters confront fantasy and memory in this haunting musical journey directed by James Chandler with music direction by Vonda K. Bowling.
  • The Lion in Winter (Dec. 4–28, 2025): A not-so-silent night unfolds as the royal Plantagenet family battles for power over Christmas dinner.
  • Deer (Jan. 29–Feb. 22, 2026): A darkly comedic tale about a couple, a deer, and the thin line between rekindled love and murder. Directed by Christie Vela.
  • Penelope (Feb. 19–Mar. 22, 2026): A bold, music-filled retelling of The Odyssey through the eyes (and vocals) of Odysseus’s wife. Featuring T3 favorite Cara Statham Serber.
  • The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Apr. 16–May 10, 2026): A brand-new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s mystery classic, led by legendary sleuth Hercule Poirot.
  • Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (June 11–July 12, 2026): Two scheming conmen, one wealthy heiress, and a hilarious competition on the French Riviera.

Beyond the stage, T3 serves as a community hub. From improv classes and playwright showcases to collaborations with Shakespeare Dallas and Uptown Players, Theatre Three keeps its doors open for creativity in all forms.

This season, the theater is also piloting earlier curtain times for Thursday shows (7 p.m.) and offering $10 rush tickets that night. Free parking is available at the Amli garage, just steps away from the newly renovated “Quad” development with several dining options.
