PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The threat of thunderstorms will return today across central and southern Oregon.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday for the region as dry storms could ignite new wildfires across the dry and brushy terrain.
Thunderstorms fired off in southern Oregon on Monday night.
A KOIN 6 viewer, Nicholaas, shared a photo of bubbly “mammatus clouds” that formed within the strong storms that rolled by Eagle Point yesterday.
These types of clouds are formed by sinking air and often look like pouches.

Temperatures are expected to bump into the 90s to near triple-digits on Tuesday in central and eastern Oregon & Washington, with isolated thunderstorms possible.
T-storms may have abundant lightning and locally gusty conditions that could spread any new fire quickly.
With hot and dry weather continuing, it is encouraged to stay alert and responsible in the outdoors. Avoid all outdoor burning and extinguish campfires thoroughly.
Stay with the KOIN 6 Weather Team for all your weather and wildfire updates this season.
