MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Drivers can expect major delays Wednesday morning along the Capital Beltway after a major crash between two tractor-trailers led to a fuel spill in Montgomery County.
The collision happened around 4:45 a.m. on July 2, just past Exit 31A, near Georgia Avenue. Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said two tractor-trailers collided, and one of the trucks overturned, leaking fuel onto the highway.

The impact of the collision left debris and fuel scattered across I-495.
Piringer noted that one person was taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries are unknown.
Around 8 a.m., all lanes on the inner loop of I-495 East were closed and vehicles were being diverted to MD-97.
Drivers are encouraged to use MD 200 as an alternative route.
