INMAN, S.C. (WSPA) – Deputies reported Tuesday morning that investigators are actively reviewing a fraud case involving an Upstate city.
On Friday, June 20, the City of Inman reported to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office that the agency had fallen victim to a scam where a payment was made to an unknown party instead of the contractor who was owed the payment.
The sheriff’s office confirmed with 7NEWS that they are the leading agency in the case.
Deputies said no further information can be released at this time.
Both the SC Law Enforcement Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been requested to explore all possible avenues of the fraud investigation.
