WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist was charged with possession of child pornography after FBI agents searched his home on Thursday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) announced.
Thomas Pham Legro, 48, is an executive producer at The Washington Post, overseeing the Politics, National, International and Technology teams, according to his bio.
Court documents, though heavily redacted, claim his work laptop had a folder with 11 videos depicting child sexual abuse material.
The oldest file was created on Jan. 27, 2022, with the most recent having been created on Jan. 8, 2023, according to a summary of six of the 11 videos outlined in charging documents.
While searching his home, the USAO said FBI agents seized several electronic devices and found what appeared to be fractured pieces of a hard drive in the hallway outside the room where his work laptop was found.
He was charged with Possession of Child Pornography and made his first appearance in U.S. District Court on Friday.
