White House says Donald Trump ‘stands by’ Secret Service as shooting suspect due in court | BBC News

A White House official said US President Donald Trump is "standing by the leadership of Secret Service" after the shooting at a Washington DC hotel on Saturday.

The official said Trump believes his agents "did an excellent job neutralising the shooter and moving the president, first lady, vice-president and cabinet to safety".

The White House also said a meeting will take place this week to discuss security procedures.

Cole Tomas Allen was arrested after apparently opening fire near a security checkpoint in the hotel foyer.
