CHICAGO (WGN) — A woman is in the hospital after she was shot during an armed robbery in Lake View overnight, according to the Chicago Police Department.
CPD said a 24-year-old woman was outside the Wellington Apartments in the 400 block of West Wellington Avenue around 12:20 a.m. early Sunday morning when three unidentified male offenders got out of a vehicle and robbed her at gunpoint.
It was at this point the woman got into a physical struggle with the group and one of the males shot her in the abdomen, according to police. The offenders then got back into their vehicle and sped off.
The woman was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital after first responders arrived on scene. She is listed as being in good condition.
Police have no one in custody. Area Three detectives are heading up the investigation.
