Have you ever wondered how far your food has travelled from where it was grown? Living alongside a bountiful food bowl doesn’t guarantee that journey will be short. Fruit and vegetables grown in far north Queensland are sent to distribution centres in Brisbane and sometimes Melbourne before being trucked back to supermarkets in the north. The increase in cost and limited availability means food insecurity is a real issue in remote areas.
