Kenya protests turn deadly as thousands oppose Ruto government | ABC NEWS

At least 16 people have been killed and hundreds injured in violent protests against the Kenyan government, as thousands rallied in major cities including the capital Nairobi to commemorate the deaths of 60 people in 2024 demonstrations against a controversial tax bill.

The latest wave of dissent erupted after anti-government blogger Albert Ojwang died in police custody.

Protesters are demanding the resignation of Kenyan President William Ruto, who has warned unrest could lead to instability.
