A majority of Australian year 9 students write at a year 4 level, analysis shows.
New resources are being launched to address the problem, with writing to be taught across disciplines including science, maths and even physical education.
A number of schools that participated in a trial of the new cross-discipline approach saw a lift in NAPLAN results and Australia’s Education Research Organisation says wide take-up will lift other student scores.
