Nilo, the two-year-old Standard Poodle is one of the newest members of Lifeguard Service Rescue in southern Spain.
His handler Miguel Sanchez-Merenciano told Reuters Nilo won’t be involved in critical situations, but has an important role nonetheless.
“I go first to the victim. When I’m halfway, I call him. He enters the water so that by the time he arrives, I have calmed the victim down, I hand him his toy, and he tows the victim to the sand.”
Nilo joins a team of four labradors, ready to show off his breed’s water rescue skills.
