Syria’s defence minister has announced a ceasefire in the southern Syrian city of Sweida following deadly sectarian clashes between the Sunni Bedouin tribal fighters and Druze militias. This comes as the Israeli military says it has carried out strikes in the area against Syria’s government forces, claiming it’s acting to protect the minority Druze community there.
