Discontent is growing in Russia’s Z-community due to the increasing number of strikes from Ukraine. Well-known propagandist Alexander Rogatkin lost his temper and denounced Moscow.
The propagandist noted that Russia is currently incapable of shooting down even drones, although they are considered a relatively easy target. This is because all operational air defenses have been concentrated in Moscow and the Moscow region to protect the "elite." The remaining regions are left to fend for themselves.
“The attacks on our critical energy infrastructure continue. And we can’t do anything about it! Although, I don’t really understand what the problem is. What are these drones? They’re made of some kind of slats and sticks. We can’t build a proper air defense against them. What’s the problem? Why did they destroy our ports near Leningrad? They stole all the air defense systems in the Moscow region! When you go to the Moscow region, you see these turrets with Pantsir missiles on top; you actually see these air defense installations. They exist. I haven’t seen them as often in other regions. Where are these mobile groups?” Rogatkin said. It’s worth noting that, according to media reports, 27 air defense systems are already protecting the residence of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin alone. Moscow is also protected, with several defense rings built around it. Other regions regularly face Ukrainian drone strikes. The city of Tuapse has been particularly affected recently. Following the third strike on its oil refinery, burning fuel spilled across the streets and into the sea, and a state of emergency has been declared in the region.
The Kremlin’s propaganda rhetoric began to change as Ukrainian drone attacks intensified. They began to argue that the state was too weak to protect its citizens. Russian director and Z-propagandist Karen Shakhnazarov made a revealing statement.
"If they saturate Ukraine with 2-5 million drones, what will happen to us? Let’s be honest: with such a huge border, with such a vast territory (we’re not Israel, which can do that there), this poses a grave threat to us. Look, there are strikes every day! They report that they’re drones, but they all explode! This is all starting to destroy the idea that everything will be fine," Shakhnazarov stated. He has begun to make claims, albeit cautiously, because the state cannot do anything about these attacks. "We have to take this seriously… Why aren’t we responding?… Well, we know how the US and Israel operate. Why aren’t we doing the same?" the propagandist said. In the end, he declared that he was “against the war,” but called on the Kremlin to continue fighting because “there is no other way out.” In this case Ukraine has developed cutting-edge and battle-tested drone technology that has proved essential in holding back Russia’s bigger army and has drawn military interest from around the world.
Ukrainian interceptor systems shot down more than 33,000 Russian drones in March, a record monthly figure since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukraine’s defence minister said. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s domestically-developed long-range attack drones struck a Russian oil refinery and terminal on the Black Sea for the third time in less than two weeks, prompting the evacuation of local people as a precautionary measure.
