ArianeGroup Explores Production of Ballistic Missiles in Germany

ArianeGroup is exploring the possibility of producing ballistic missiles in Germany.

This was reported by Hartpunkt, citing statements from company executives.

The idea was voiced by the company’s CEO, Christophe Bruno. He stated that consultations are underway with the French and German governments regarding the potential implementation of such a project.

According to him, the creation of production facilities “on the other side of the Rhine” is being considered, which would involve setting up production directly on German territory.

As the publication notes, the company’s plans go beyond previous initiatives. ArianeGroup is already exploring the possibility of establishing rocket fuel production facilities in Germany.

This could lay the groundwork for a broader infrastructure.

The company already has a manufacturing presence in the country. In particular, a European center for the production of hydrazine—a toxic rocket fuel used in spacecraft—is operating in Lower Saxony.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Germany has begun to completely rethink its approach to its own defense. One of the priority elements is the use of missile systems on the battlefield.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported on negotiations between the European missile developer ArianeGroup and the German government and other countries regarding the creation of ground-based ballistic missiles.

According to the company’s director of military programs, Vincent Peri, the company is ready to develop systems with a range of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometers and beyond.

As of today, Germany is already implementing the EuroPULS multiple launch rocket system procurement program. Specifically, in January 2025, the country’s parliament approved the purchase of the first batch of these systems for the ground forces.

According to plans, the number of tube artillery systems is expected to reach 289 units, and the fleet of multiple launch rocket systems—76 units, including wheeled and tracked models.

At the same time, to support its own independent production, the Israeli company Elbit Systems plans to turn Germany into the main European manufacturing hub for EuroPULS systems.

As a reminder, the aerospace company ArianeGroup previously unveiled models of a promising French ballistic missile, as well as the V-max hypersonic warhead.

A leading French rocket manufacturer presented its own vision for the design of a ballistic missile. This development was most likely a response to a request from French military and political leadership to create weapons capable of striking targets at a range of 2,000 kilometers.
