Military and transportation sites in Russia’s Rostov region came under multiple Ukrainian drone attacks on the night leading to April 21. According to Astra channel, throughout the night, unmanned aircraft attacked railway infrastructure near facilities associated with Russian armed forces. Locals reported hearing explosions in Novocherkassk and nearby areas, with one blast confirmed near the railway line in the village of Persianovsky, located in the Oktyabrsky district. The targeted military No. 22179 lies roughly 1.6 kilometers from the explosion site, while a former repair and maintenance facility, Unit No. 3658, used to operate within 800 meters of it – though its current status is unclear. Drone strikes also hit the Likhaya railway station, causing significant train delays and temporary disruptions in passenger service, as confirmed by local residents. Regional Governor Yuriy Slyusar claimed that more than 40 drones had been intercepted and destroyed, but admitted that damage to the railway’s overhead power lines had occurred. The attacks reflect a broader pattern in which Ukrainian strike drones are increasingly targeting Russia’s logistical and energy systems. The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces confirmed a direct hit on the Krymskaya oil pumping station, a facility crucial to fueling Russian military operations. Ukrainian drones have also demonstrated expanded range capabilities, successfully reaching targets over 1,000 kilometers away. Recently, two Russian drilling platforms in the Caspian Sea – previously used for resource extraction and military support – were struck. Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, reaffirmed that Ukrainian forces will continue to target Russian oil infrastructure, emphasizing that such operations are key to weakening Russia’s war-making capacity.
