Denmark Orders XENTA-M5 Radars for Newly Formed 1st Brigade

The Danish Ministry of Defence has signed an agreement to supply new radars for the air defense of the 1st Brigade.

The ministry noted that this is an important step in forming the brigade, which is scheduled to receive its equipment in 2027–2028.

The new systems are XENTA-M5 radars. They can detect various types of aerial threats and will be delivered in containerized units.

The purchase includes the delivery of four radars from the Danish company Weibel. They will become a key element in creating a modern air-defense system.

Another Danish company, Terma, will be responsible for integrating all the components that are being gradually procured for the brigade’s air-defense system.

The radars are planned to be mounted on new trucks from Rheinmetall, for which a contract has already been signed. The procurement is financed through the first phase of Denmark’s 2024–2033 defense agreement. In addition to the radars themselves, the contract also includes construction of the necessary infrastructure and training for military personnel.

The XENTA-M5 is a modern short-range air-defense radar. It provides 360° coverage and three-dimensional target tracking. The radars can detect both high-speed missiles and small drones.
